Used car inspection before you buy
Before you pay for a used car, bring it to Karsen Taller or ask the seller to bring it. We put it on the lift, read the ECU and check the engine, brakes, suspension, underbody and bodywork. We tell you what's wrong with it and what it would cost to fix, so you can decide and negotiate the price with facts.
What we check
- Underbody on the lift: rust, damage and oil or coolant leaks. On the coast, salt air speeds up rust, so it's one of the first things we look at.
- Electronic diagnostics: fault codes stored in the ECU even when no warning light is on.
- Engine and gearbox: noises, smoke and how they run.
- Brakes and tyres: wear and what will need replacing soon.
- Suspension and steering: bushes, ball joints and shock absorbers.
- Bodywork and lights: signs of accidents and previous repairs.

We explain what we found in person or on WhatsApp: what's fine, what will need fixing soon and what it would cost. Then you decide whether to buy and at what price.

We also sell used cars that go through our workshop first, with a 1-year warranty.

Pre-purchase inspection
Can I bring a car that a private seller is selling?
Yes. Usually you arrange to meet the seller and bring the car to the workshop. We inspect it and tell you the result there and then or on WhatsApp.
Do you inspect cars of any make?
Yes, we work on all makes: petrol, diesel and hybrid, automatics too. We don't inspect fully electric cars or motorhomes.
How much is a pre-purchase inspection?
Message us on WhatsApp with the make and model and we'll tell you the price before you come.
What if the car has foreign plates?
No problem: we work on cars from any country and, if you buy it, we can also register it in Spain.
How is this different from a mobile inspection?
We inspect the car on a workshop lift with diagnostic equipment, so we see the underbody, suspension and brakes properly. And if you buy it, we can look after its servicing and any repairs afterwards.
