Pre-ITV: your car ready for the Spanish MOT

To avoid failing the ITV, the Spanish MOT, we first check what the inspection looks at most, fix whatever is needed and, if you like, take the car to the ITV station ourselves. That way you don't lose a morning or have to go back for a fault that could have been avoided.

What we check before the ITV

  • Lights and headlights: working, aim and clarity.
  • Tyres: tread depth and condition.
  • Brakes: efficiency and imbalance between wheels.
  • Emissions and any warning lights on the dashboard.
  • Suspension, steering and play.
  • Wipers, mirrors, seat belts and number plate.

Yellowed headlights

Cloudy headlights give less light and can count as a fault at the ITV. We polish them so they're clear again.

We take your car to the ITV

If you're short of time, leave us the keys: we do what's needed, take the car to the ITV station, and you collect it with a valid ITV.

Frequently asked questions

Pre-ITV (Spanish MOT)

How often does a car need the ITV in Spain?

For a passenger car, the first ITV is due 4 years after registration; then every 2 years until the car is 10 years old, and every year after that.

My engine warning light is on and the ITV is in two days. Can you look at it?

Yes, message us as soon as you can. We diagnose it and fix the cause: just clearing the light doesn't help, because it comes back on, and at the ITV a lit fault warning light can count as a defect.

What happens if my car fails the ITV?

You get a deadline to fix the faults and go back to the station. We repair them at the workshop and, if you like, take the car back for you.

Can you take my car to the ITV for me?

Yes. You leave us the keys at the workshop, we do what's needed and take the car to the ITV station ourselves. You collect it with the ITV passed.
